It's Been A While...

Well, it's been almost 4 months since my last post and there has been quite a bit that has happened since then. Jack just turned 2 years old a couple weeks ago. Our new baby girl, Carlee is due November 20th. Oh, and did I mention we're moving? Jael and I have been house shopping and have a couple different choices in mind. We're staying in the Knoxville area, just relocating to a place that better fits our needs. With a 2 year old son, a baby girl on the way, a brand new puppy and Jael's brother Joe moving in, we need a little more room, both inside and out. Stay tuned for more details later.

Also, if you are online looking at this, then you should be able to get on to Facebook. If you don't have an account then get one. It's not the devil. Trouble At TYS

This is the view from where I currently sit at the McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Alcoa, Tennessee. Severe thunderstorms have kept us from our scheduled departure and we will be arriving in Houston later than planned. Hopefully we'll be able to make a flight from Houston to San Jose and still have enough time to make the date.

The Blackwood Gospel Quartet is on the west coast for the next two weeks. I had to say goodbye to my wife and son at security this morning and will miss them greatly. I watched Jael walk all the way out the doors with Jack holding to her hand, his little feet stomping the floor as he went. I love them so much.

We'll be traveling back via rental van and making some stops to do some dates in Texas and Louisiana. It won't be as long as our trip to Arizona and Nevada we made earlier this year, but it's still a long time to be away from home. Please pray for us and our travels and for Jael and Jack-Jack.

Well, it's been forever since I've made a post on here and I apologize. A whole lot has been going on in our lives and we've been very, very busy. Let me quickly catch you up on everything.

I'm currently on the road in Texas doing a 5 date weekend and Jael is at home with Jack, hard at work taking care of our son and maintaining a clean house. In a nutshell, that's what our weekends consist of.

When I'm home during the week, Jael babysits a 9 month old girl named Aubrey. She's such a good mother already, and I can't think of anybody who does a better job watching children than she does. I get to do things like catching up on graphic design, blogging and relax by playing xbox or watching a good movie. Of course, the thing I love the most is just being there with my wife and son. They don't fully realize just how important it is to me just to be around them. Even when we're not doing anything at all, just knowing that they're with me makes me so happy. It's what I look forward to every second I'm on the road.

Anyway, for any of you reading who are family or friends from Michigan or Ohio, come down to Holland, Ohio this next Saturday - the first Saturday in April to be exact - and catch our live video taping at the WPOS Center. It's going to be a fun night and I'm looking forward to seeing some family and friends who have already told me they are coming down. It starts at 6pm. Las Vegas, Nevada

Just thought I'd let all of you know where I'm at right now. I'm currently at the Stratosphere Hotel in Vegas. The view is unbelievable. Later I'm going to go down to the strip and hang out with some friends - after the Steelers finish off the Cardinals that is.

My wife and I are definitely going to be vacationing here sometime soon. The hotel rooms are dirt cheap, because the powers that be plan on taking your money at the table and slots. So, if you make Vegas your vacation spot, and you don't plan on gambling - you can get a great hotel room with a spectacular view, incredible buffets, dinner shows, comedy clubs... you pretty much name it and it is here.

Anyway, I gotta get back to business. Talk to you all later.

Snow In Tennessee

Well, we got our first snow the other day. None of it stuck, mind you, but it snowed nonetheless. It was very windy, and the snow was very thick and wet. Jack-Jack was pretty upset when I went outside without him, which is evident in the later part of the video.

It's been a much different winter than I expected. We had that snow the other day, but yesterday was in the upper 50's and we went out without jackets.

In a couple weeks, though, we'll be up in Michigan where I'm sure we'll get our fill of snow. I'm anxious to see how Jack will react to all of it. He's at that stage now where you can tell his little mind is figuring stuff out.

I Love My Mom

I was just thinking today about my mother and couldn't help but get on here and share it with everyone. I love my mom. I'm so glad I had a mother who made the sacrifices she did to allow me, my brother and my sister to have the life we did growing up.

My mom worked two jobs to put us all in a Christian school. I can honestly say that I can never think of a time when my mother was selfish. She sacrificed her time and energy to make sure we were taken care of. I don't know what I'd be doing today if I wouldn't have gone to State Line Christian School. That never would have been an option if my mom would have decided to live comfortably and take it easy. Instead, she sometimes would only spend 3 hours or so at home before going to another job.

One of the things I've learned, growing up the way I did, was to be able to live life, as the Bible says, in a state of content, whatever state I'm in. Because of that I've been able to make it through the hard times, allow the criticism to roll off my back, and reach for the goal. My mother taught me not to settle for something that is second best to what you want. Today, I'm doing what I love because I didn't settle. Thank you mom.

My mother would never be one to brag or boast about the things that she's done, but somebody should. I'm so glad that she is happy now and that she will be taken care of with all of us kids out of the house. But don't worry, every once in a while I'll let Jack drop by - so she doesn't forget the great experience of raising us kids.

Getting Back In The Swing of Things

Well, my birthday has come and gone. Thank you for all that sent cards, shot me an email, gave me a call, wrote me a note on facebook, left me a comment on one of my blogs ... wow, there are a lot of ways to get in contact with people these days.

This morning I'm getting ready to leave my hotel and go to northern Iowa for an afternoon singing. I'll be back this Monday and I'm excited to get home. Jael, Jack and I were busy getting food in the fridge and getting a bed set up to make it through the weekend in our new place. This week I've got even more of a busy schedule ahead of me. I should have internet access at the house this week, so Jael will be able to post some more pictures. All of you need to start checking back on Jack's blog, because he is sure getting big and I know she's excited to tell you all about the new and wonderful things, strike that, the very destructive things he's learning to do.

Jael's really enjoying the services at Temple Baptist Church. It's so nice to have church right down the block again. I remember growing up and having the benefit of being able to walk to school and church, because it was so close. Well, really the reason was because my mother would leave after getting sick of waiting on me. Anyway, like I said, it's nice to be close to church once again.

Well, I gotta get going. We got a date at 2pm and it's a 3 hour drive. Man, staying in hotels every night, eating out all the time, getting paid to do what I love ... this working for a living is for the birds. Love you all. Talk to you soon.

We Finally Got Our Place!!!

Well, here is the first of many pictures to come of our new home sweet home. I'm sure once I get the computer set up and online that Jael will have plenty of pictures to post and lots to talk about.

This isn't a picture of the exact home we have, but this is the picture that the realtor website has posted for all of these new home. These are all brand new and have never been lived in before.

It has 1,704 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 and 1/2 bathrooms and a two car garage. Our master bedroom has a hallway in it! That's something we're not exactly used to coming from one bedroom apartments. The master bedroom has a huge walk in closet, a linen closet and a bathroom. The smallest of the three rooms is still just as big as any of our former bedrooms from past apartments. Thank you to all who have been praying for us. This is a huge answer to prayer and Jael and I are very excited.

Also, our subdivision is directly across from Crown College in Powell, Tennessee and right down the street from Temple Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Clarence Sexton, which we will be transferring our membership to.

I didn't write down the address yet, so stay tuned and I will make sure to get it posted.

Jack's Molars Are Coming In!!!

Well, Jack is getting his molars. What this means are many, many sleepless nights. He's had fevers, runny noses, bad coughs... he WILL NOT stop crying. Just to name a few of our less than enjoyable experiences. He also fell and cut open his chin. Nothing as serious as when I did around his age, but needless to say, he still didn't like it.

Other than that, things are going as well as they can be going right now. Most of you have assumed correctly that I am no longer singing with Eighth Day. Things just didn't work out. What else can I say? I was just too much of a "risk factor". God is just protecting me, that's all. I've wanted to be singing for so long that I was willing to settle for something that would have limited me from doing all that God wanted me to do. So, He decided to make the tough decision for me, and that was to remove me from Eighth Day.

Well, here I am in Southaven, Mississippi posting off of my sister-in-laws MacBook in a parking lot that has WiFi available. There's currently no internet access at the house, so this is my only means of posting right now.

If you didn't catch it, the title of this post mentions the word change. Well, we have gone through quite a lot of it in the past several months. A lot of possibilities and a lot of questions. When I thought that God was going to lead me in one direction, He turned me in another. And then He changed my course again. I finally decided to commit and dive in head first. I felt that I had a firm grip on what He wanted me to do but then He closed the door again.

It has been a difficult time. We have been tried and tested. We've been blessed and we've been burnt. I've made a lot of decisions throughout my life based on what other people thought was best for me. Then I decided that I would make the decisions for myself. However, what I failed to realize is that those decisions I made based on others had put me in a situation that made it difficult for me to simply stop my momentum on a dime. I need to re-evaluate things.

We are going to be moving to Mississippi. The area is just south of Memphis, Tennessee. I've got a couple interviews lined up and we're looking at a great apartment complex that sits in the middle of everything. I am going to anchor down and get some things taken care of and then go back to waiting on the Lord to bring another singing opportunity, in His time.

I will keep you all posted.

I Feel So Alone Right Now

I'm all by myself in our empty town home. It's about ten minutes after 2am here. I've been up all night getting everything packed and moved to a storage unit down the road. I'm taking a quick break, eating some cheez-its and drinking an ice cold Pepsi. I miss Jael and Jack so much. I NEVER want to do this again. I can't wait until we get to be back together.

I wish I had Jael here to help me so bad.

I just got to go see them last night and Lyla Nicole Watson is so beautiful. I'm so happy for them. Nicole had a hard delivery and actually had to have a caesarean section after 12 or so hours of labor. But she got through it and now they finally have their baby.

I Love My Wife and Kid

It's late and I can't sleep. I've had a lot on my mind recently and wanted to post real quick before I go to bed. I was trying to get to sleep a minute ago and while I was praying that God would protect my wife and son I couldn't help but jump to my computer after I was finished and post something.

Whenever I have to be away from them I begin to start thinking like this before too long. God has blessed me with such a beautiful and wonderful wife. Jael is the love of my life and the mother of my child. If it wasn't for her I would be lost. I wouldn't know what to do. Now we have our son, Jack. She takes such good care of him and he sure does love his mommy.

Jack is beginning to walk, of course, on the short week and a half that I am away. He is growing up so fast. His first birthday party is the 9th of August and it's right around the corner. He is the most beautiful baby boy I've ever seen, not just because he's my son, but because EVERYBODY says so.

I love and miss you two SO, SO very much. I'll see you soon.

Just To Catch You Up

Jael, Jack and I spent this past week in Lake Cormorant, Mississippi with her mom and brothers and sisters. We went down there to both spend time with them and help make some improvements on their new home. I learned the hard way that I'm no professional painter. I don't think Jael's mom was too impressed. I've never painted any home interiors other than apartments that were already prepped and primed. Unfortunately, the house they purchased needed more work than I thought. The paint job wasn't bad, but the mudding was evident. Oh well ... you live and learn, right?

Meanwhile, I've been having a blast singing on the road with Scott and Joni Robinson of Eighth Day. Every singing meeting has been such a blessing to me and we've really gotten to see God work through us, which is what it's all about.

Please be praying for us. Jael and I have some big decisions to make concerning our future move. We need God's guidance.

Also, we are approaching Jack's first birthday. August 9th. Don't forget to get your card in the mail in or around the 9th. Jack needs college money!!! I'll be sure to get you all an address to send them. Love you all.

Well, Jael and I took Jack to see some fireworks last night. Now, they were no where near as inspiring as these would have been, but it was still nice to get out and go downtown. We watched over the Charleston Battery and you could see them going off all along the coast line.

When I saw this picture, I had to snag it for myself. This, to me, is the picture perfect image of what the fourth of July should mean to every American. Lady Liberty against a backdrop of sheer celebration and unashamed rememberance of our day of independence.

The Holy City

One of Charleston's nicknames. It was given to the city because if one were to look at the city from farther out in the ocean, the skyline is littered with church steeples. Charleston is known for it's history, and many of the historic landmarks are churches. The first church of many different denominations were established right here in Charleston.

My office is very close to the church building seen here. In fact, I can see it right now out of my four story office window. It is St. Phillips Episcopal Church, established in 1680. The first building was located where the church below is now located. However, that building was long ago taken down and what is now St. Michael's Episcopal Church was built there between 1751 and 1761, due to increasingly large congregation numbers. This church is located not far at all from St. Phillips.

In 1710, this building was badly damaged by a hurricane and so construction on the building above went underway. It wasn't until 1723 that the first service was held, due to various tragedies from the death of the Commissary to Indian wars delaying the construction. In 1835, the second St. Phillips building burnt to the ground, but another was built in it's place at a rapid pace. In 1838, the building which you see in the first picture was finished.

There's so much history here. Charleston was attacked by real pirates on many occassions throughout history. Between 1860 and 1865, the St. Phillip's church steeple was targeted for shelling by the invading Union Army. A shell even exploded in the church yard during a Sunday morning service. They finished the service, but then moved to another location until the end of the war.

I could go on and on. I really love learning about all that has gone on here. George Whitefield even preached at this church back in 1737. It's amazing all that has happened here.

I absolutely love it here. Working downtown is the best. I work for a trade and barter company called Biz2Biz Commerce. We have a national client base and the purpose of the company is to make it easier for a business to do business with another business, hence the name.

Anyway, I work right in the middle of everything. I'm litterally a stone throw away from the Atlantic and I'm just caught up in the whole thing. I have a great job that allows me to also take advantage of paying many everyday expenditures via trade dollars, which frees up my hard earned cash for more important things like house payments, insurance, fixed bills and stuff.

For lunch I have many great places within walking distance. One of my favorites is Noisy Oyster, which is only a half block away. Conveniently for me, they're one of our clients, so I can go eat there on trade and not spend a dime! Also, there's so many shops to go to and the market is right there.

I love Charleston.

Nobody Cares... Nobody Writes...

I guess I'm really feeling like it's not as big as a deal as everyone is making it out to be. I've given you a facet of communication... so use it. Technology is advancing by leaps and bounds and you need to keep up just like everybody else.

I've called, written and sent emails to people telling them about these blogs and how they are the best way to keep in contact... yet I have nobody checking them out or posting. You must really not be as desperate to keep in touch as you tell everyone else that you are.

Prove me wrong... I'm waiting.

Okay, I have been accused of not being very good at keeping in contact with people. Alright, I admit it, it's true. However, if you really do want to keep in contact with me, then you gotta meet me half way. I'm on the internet as much as I can be. With the graphics design gig, I'm constantly getting new background pictures, sending files to clients, as well as email. I do email, by the way.

This blog is something that I check frequently. So check back every so often. I will do my best to post up to date material and check the comments - so POST COMMENTS! I won't know you visited unless you comment. Anyway, you can't say I didn't try.

It's December 24th and Jack and I are ready for Christmas, as well as my wife. I was just teaching my boy the benefits of knowing one's way around the computer and thought we'd take a picture with the webcam. He's 4 and 1/2 months now and is already growing too fast. Well, I guess I'm okay with him getting to the crawl phase, so at least we can set him down... ever, without him fussing. He just likes to be involved in everything we do and everywhere we go. If he can't see what you're doing from your point of view then he's simply not satisfied.

Anyway, we hope you all have a Merry Christmas and get to spend it with loved ones. Remember that the season's about our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the celebration of His birth of a virgin, here on Earth. We love you all.

Sunny South Carolina

Well, we're finally here... the beautiful state of South Carolina. I don't think I could ever be as thrilled with a move as I am with this one. We just had our first service at the Palmetto Land Baptist Church in Summerville last night. It was great. I know we are just going to love it here.

It's actually been quite cool here this past week. It's been in the 60s during the day and low to mid 40s in the evenings. I've been told "it's been a little chilly recently" by residents, so I guess it's usually warmer. However, coming from Gaylord, Michigan ~ where I believe it's around 19 degrees, and the National Weather Service says that, with the wind chill, it feels like 7 degrees. I think I can make the transition.

Anyway, I'll be sure to keep you updated with all the things happening here. My wife and son are doing fine. We'll be moving into our house shortly. I'll be happy to visit Michigan again here at Christmas time, but glad to go back HOME where it's nice and warm. Well, talk to you all later. God bless!

My wife has 11 siblings, 7 of which are girls. Lorna is definitely the craziest of the bunch. Kara, another sister, is the one filming this as well as the master mind behind getting the little 4 year old to do such a thing. You can also see Winona halfway through assisting Lorna on her "mail run" and Gina, the youngest, looking on at the end of the video.

Don't worry folks, I have my wife's permission to do this. Here is a picture before (obviously) my wife gave birth to Jack. She pretty much gained all the weight right where you see it. I'm sure she enjoyed all the "oh, you're so cute pregnant" comments for about the first 5 minutes. Now, she's so happy to be through it all.
Next comes the fun part, getting through the first 18 to 20 years of his life. I have a bad feeling I'm going to reap what I sowed very, very soon. By the way, she's back to normal. The picture of us in the right column was taken after the pregnancy.

Born August 9, 2007, at 6:26pm. 7lbs. 3oz. 19.5" long. Looks like he's gonna have Daddy's hair color. It's obviously too early to tell eye color.

Jael was in labor for about 16hrs. She was pushing for about 1hr 45min. He's so incredible. I was right there when the head came out and everything.

I'll post a picture up here pretty soon. I'm exhausted. I slept in the hospital last night on a cot. I have to get going, but I'll keep you posted.

Production Continues

Well, I have got someone lined up who is going to finance the replication process, praise God. So now, after almost three months of down time, production of "That's What Grace Is For" is back up and under way.
The design and layout is already finished, so as soon as he cuts me the check I will be shipping it off. After that it should only be a couple weeks hopefully. I'll keep you informed.

It's a boy. At least that's what the ultrasounds tell us. Jael is due August 15, 2007. I'm so excited, yet so nervous both at the same time. I still can't imagine myself as a father, but I guess most everyone feels the same way before their first child.

Thank you to everyone who have encouraged us. Thanks to all my friends whom I went to school and college with, and who I grew up with... you have all helped prepare me for all the stupid things my son is going to try and pull. Lol.

We'll keep you posted!

That's What Grace Is For

It's done. My very first solo Cd entitled, That's What Grace Is For, has just been recorded and mixed on April 17, 2007. I'm so relieved. Thank you to everyone who prayed over this project. The day came and went. It seemed as if God just opened up a window of time where he gave me my full vocal ability, and maybe even a little bit more, and allowed me to record.

I'm very blessed to be able to do something like this. When I stood there, behind the mic, the thought came to me... the Lord was ministering through me on something that would be final, recorded forever. It overwhelmed me. The Lord wanted this recording to be good, and I'm totally satisfied in his decision.

Nicole Watson's Cd is just amazing. Her voice is so incredible and the guys at Harvest Gospel Studio really complemented her music well. She did a fully orchestrated project. I, on the other hand, did a piano only project. Two men at the church I grew up at financed this thing for me, and I wanted to gear it towards their musical preference. My song selection are all songs that are special to me and that really minister to my heart. Dave Kazee was my pianist, and he is just amazing. I knew that if I was doing a piano only project, that I needed a professional... and he was just the guy for the job. He also played for Nicole's project and she was just as equally impressed. We both hope you will all enjoy and that the Lord will use our music to influence and work in the hearts of all who listen.

Well, I'm sitting in studio A at Harvest Gospel Studios. Good friends of mine Jesse and Nicole Watson are here recording Nicole's very first solo album. Just like our last recording, I was thrilled the moment I walked in the door. For a musician, it's just so exciting being in the studio. They're laying down her tracks at this very moment. Tomorrow Nicole will be recording her vocals in one studio, while I record my tracks in the other. I'm so pumped, yet stressed at the same time.

I'm dealing with allergies for the first time in my life. I've been trying to knock out something that has just been congregating in the back of my throat for about a week now. Pray for me please. I'm on the verge of breaking through right now.

I'm just always so impressed by the musicians here at Harvest. I'm so very excited. I'll let all of you know how it goes. God bless!

Well, I'm sitting in the office of my good friend, and assistant pastor at the Palmetto Land Baptist Church, Jesse Watson. It's not as warm as I hoped it would be, but let me assure you... when I left Gaylord, Michigan, it was 19 degrees, snowing and very, very windy... here is a far, far better place. We're getting ready to head into downtown Charleston to eat some crab legs, praise God. Just wanted you all to know about that.

Please pray for me. I've been a little under the weather since our last road trip and I'm trying to knock out whatever it is that I've got before tomorrow's service. Then of course, there's the 18 hour drive back home.

We're Gettin' Ready...

for some serious singing! My wife and I, along with her brother Joe, and Jon Jenkins Jr. are going down to the Grace Baptist Church in Lockport, Illinois, pastored by Bro. Dave Fink. We'll be down there the 2nd and 3rd of April so pray for us to have a great meeting. Pastor Fink and Jon's dad Dr. Jon M. Jenkins will be the speakers.

Also, the Kitsons will be traveling down to Charleston, South Carolina for an easter service at Palmetto Land Baptist Church in Summerville, SC, pastored by Bro. Gene Carpenter. It's about an 18 hour trip when you figure in all our stops, but we're all looking forward to it.

Then, shortly after that on the 16th through the 21st, we'll be in Huntington, West Virginia, at Harvest Gospel Studios working on three recording projects. One of them will be my very first solo CD. Please pray that everything will go well. It's a privelege to finally be able to do something like this and I'm very excited.

How's everybody doing? If you ever knew me well enough, you would know that I'm absolutely terrible at keeping in touch with people. However, I'm addicted to stuff like this.
